SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The family of a 66-year-old man who was left seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles is asking for the public's help in finding the driver responsible.
The incident unfolded July 2 around 10 a.m. when the victim, John Edwards, was riding an electric scooter near Figueroa and 84th streets.
New video shows the moment he stopped and fell off the scooter into the intersection. That's when a white SUV that was pulling up ran him over.
The driver made a right turn, stopped to check on him and then drove away.
"She hit my brother... got out the car, turned around and looked at him as he's screaming out for help," said the victim's brother, Walter Edwards. "And we might truly believe that this lady has delivered packages to our house and that she recognized him. Did she look at him and know him and still did not help him? This is a tragedy."
One witness told ABC7 off-camera that the driver looked familiar to him, saying she delivers packages for an online company in the neighborhood.
The Los Angeles Police Department says they are investigating and still looking for the driver.
Meanwhile, Edwards remains hospitalized in stable condition as he recovers from serious injuries.
"He has fractures throughout his body," said attorney Robbie Munoz. "I'm not going to dive into the deep details of his injuries but I can tell you they are life-altering injuries, and they are injuries that he's going to be recovering from for years to come."
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
