Person hit, killed while crossing street in East Los Angeles

EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after a person was hit and killed while crossing the street in East Los Angeles.

Officers responded to a call regarding a person lying in the street on E. Olympic Boulevard and S. Arizona Street around 11 p.m. Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The person was declared dead at the scene. The victim has not been identified.

Details about what led up to the crash were not available, but video from the scene shows a car with significant damage nearby.

The CHP says it is looking for the people who were involved in the crash.
