LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) -- One pilot is dead after two small planes collided mid-air in the Lancaster area Sunday, authorities confirmed.

The planes went down around 12:50 p.m. according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. One crash-landed at 47th Street and Avenue F, the other at Avenue G and 60th Street.
One pilot was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was able to land and walk away with no injuries.
It's unclear how or why the aircraft collided.
