
DOWNEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A police chase on Wednesday morning ended in a multi-vehicle crash on the 605 Freeway in Downey, prompting the brief closure of all southbound lanes.
At least four cars were involved in the pileup, which occurred shortly before 10 a.m. near Firestone Boulevard.
Firefighter-paramedics were summoned to the scene. The number and severity of the possible injuries were unclear.

Whittier police were involved in the pursuit, with the California Highway Patrol assisting.
The circumstances that led to the chase were unclear.
Less than 30 minutes after the collision, the HOV lane and two others were reopened to slow-moving southbound traffic as the investigation continued at the scene.
