Extremist group calls in bomb threat to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, officials say
PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A bomb threat was made against Huntington Hospital in Pasadena Friday morning, prompting a large response from law enforcement.
The threat from an extremist group known to law enforcement was called in around 5:49 a.m., according to city spokesperson Lisa Derderian, but additional details were not available.
The hospital diverted emergency traffic as officers and bomb-sniffing K-9 units searched the buildings of the facility. The Pasadena Police Department gave the all-clear around 9 a.m.
While residents in the area were relieved it wasn't a more serious outcome, some expressed frustration at the apparent false threat.
"What are we doing? Like it's just crazy," said Dayan Rosen. "You know, people have just got to be doing something better with their time. That's just a crazy thing to do. There are sick people there. We all got to go to the hospital at some point. Can we just go there in peace?"
The hospital remained open to staff and patients during the ordeal. All operations later resumed back to normal.
