RIALTO, Calif. (KABC) -- As families across Southern California celebrate Thanksgiving, more than a dozen families in Rialto aren't so fortunate.
A massive four-alarm fire at an apartment complex destroyed 16 units, leaving 64 people homeless.
"We lost absolutely everything. We have nothing. We're left with the clothes we have on our back," said Danna Pulido, who is now staying in a hotel along with her parents, younger brother and 1-year-old sister.
"Everyone watching, they're going to have their Thanksgiving with their family. We're not," Pulido said. "They're going to have their Christmas, they're going to have their New Years. And what do we have? We have nothing."
The fire broke out last week at the Vista View Apartments on South Cactus Avenue in Rialto.
The Rialto Fire Department, along with assistance from Colton Fire, Rancho Cucamonga Fire District, Yuhaaviatam and the San Bernardino County Fire Department were able to contain the massive fire to one structure.
Neither any residents, nor any firefighters, were hurt in the fire.
Carlos Monrroy was at the hospital the night of the fire, along with his wife who was giving birth.
As soon as he heard about the fire, he rushed home to save what he could, leaving his wife and newborn alone at the hospital.
"I had my dog in there and my birds," said Monrroy. "The police were telling me leave your dog behind, but I'm like that's my family member.
"It was like a movie to be honest. The kids are traumatized. They have no home... Everything we worked for over the years is gone."
Several families have set up fundraisers on crowdsourcing websites like GoFundMe to raise money for the essentials.
"We don't know what we're going to eat later today, tomorrow," said Pulido. "We're not sure. Hygiene, clothes, even shoes because we're running around all day."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
