RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Three children are in foster care after an investigation led to their parents facing a long list of child abuse and drug trafficking charges.
According to Riverside police, the investigation was launched in mid-May after learning that the children may have been physically abused by their parents. By then, police said the children had already been removed by Riverside County Child Protective Services and placed in temporary foster care.
During the investigation into the alleged abuse, detectives suspected the parents were trafficking illegal narcotics from the home.
Police said on July 15, detectives served a search warrant at the home on Magnolia Avenue. During the search, they seized over 900 grams of suspected heroin, more than 300 grams of cocaine, approximately 155 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), and nearly 200 grams of suspected fentanyl pills.
Detectives also found a large amount of cash and packaging materials, Riverside police said.
Investigators noted that the drugs were found in areas easily accessible to the children, and detectives believe the children were exposed to the manufacturing and distribution of the narcotics.
The parents, identified as 31-year-old Miguel Jacobo and 34-year-old Alma Dominguez, were arrested and booked into jail. Jacobo was charged with multiple felonies, including narcotics violations, child abuse and child endangerment. Alma was also charged with felony child endangerment.
The couple is being held without bail.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Jennifer Cappelen at (951) 353-7950 or JCappelen@RiversideCA.gov.
