Santa Ana drive-by shooting kills male victim

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A male victim was killed in a drive-by shooting in Santa Ana on Saturday night.

A police officer in the area of 600 East Pine Street heard gunshots at about 10:24 p.m. on Saturday and observed several males running in the area, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

One of the males collapsed in front of the officer. The victim had a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No further details were released about the victim.

Homicide investigators determined that someone in a vehicle fired at the victim and his companions near 300 South Halladay Street, according to police.

The suspect vehicle was not located. Police did not release a vehicle description.
