Tarzana gas station awning collapses after hydrant crash

TARZANA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A sheared hydrant sent a huge geyser of water shooting into the air in Tarzana Friday, inundating the street with water and damaging a gas station.

AIR7 came across the scene at Ventura and Reseda boulevards around 5:30 a.m. The massive stream of water caused an awning at the Chevron station right next to it to buckle and partially collapse.

A car that fled the scene was reportedly to be blamed for damaging the hydrant.

Ventura Boulevard was temporarily shut down in both directions due to the incident. The hydrant was eventually shut off.

No injuries were reported.
