Simi Valley home damaged after being hit by federal vehicle

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A Simi Valley homeowner is cleaning up some damage after a federal vehicle hit their home.

The incident happened just after 10 a.m. Friday at the home on Deborah Street.

The Simi Valley Police Department confirmed the vehicle involved was a federal vehicle but was unsure what agency it belonged to.

"I just heard a big thud and then I heard a bunch of rustling," said Josephyne Ponce, who lives in the home. "I was with my boyfriend, and my boyfriend and I thought they were fighting or something. I've seen the unmarked vans but yeah, this is probably the closest that they've ever gotten to me."

The crash happened while federal agents were executing a search warrant in the area, according to police.

It's unclear if the search warrant was being served at the home that was damaged. Police also aren't sure how the crash happened, but the federal agents did leave a claim form at the home to report any damage.

The incident remains under investigation.
