Sixth Street Bridge reopened after hourslong police activity, LAPD says

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Sixth Street Bridge was reopened between downtown Los Angeles and Boyle Heights on Friday morning after hours of police activity at the scene, authorities said.

Police officers and firefighters responded to the iconic structure around 9 a.m.

At least six Los Angeles Fire Department vehicles were seen parked on the viaduct, along with several LAPD cruisers.

The bridge was shut down to traffic in both directions for hours, and was reopened to drivers around noon.

Metro buses were expected to detour via Seventh Street between Alameda and Boyle due until 3:00 p.m., the agency said in a social media post.

"Toward Montebello Metrolink Station, stops from 6th/Alameda - Whittier/Boyle will not be served. Toward Wilshire/Western Station, stops 6th/Mateo and 6th/Alameda will not be served," the Metro statement said.
