Cache of weapons found in car after Santa Clarita crash

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after a small cache of weapons was found at a crash scene in Santa Clarita.

The two-car crash happened at 10:21 p.m. Sunday just north of Los Angeles County Fire Camp 14, according to the California Highway Patrol. Additional details about what led up to the crash were not available.

Rescue crews worked to free a person who was trapped when they found the weapons in one of the vehicles. The items included two metal ammunition storage containers holding handguns, rifles and tactical gear.

Two people are recovering in the hospital.

The CHP secured the items and is investigating.
