CAMARILLO, Calif. (KABC) -- Two people are severely injured after a small plane crashed on a residential road in Camarillo on Sunday evening.
AIR7 video shows the small aircraft upside down next to a drainage ditch off Carmen Drive at Lucero Street, not far from the Camarillo Airport. The crash happened just after 6 p.m.
The Ventura County Fire Department said firefighters successfully extricated two people from the single-engine Cessna. They were both taken to the hospital in critical condition with severe injuries.
The rescue appeared to be difficult, with the plane down on the opposite side of the drainage ditch from the roadway where emergency vehicles were parked.
Fire officials say the plane did not collide with any structures in the area.
The plane is registered to a company in Des Moines, Washington. Flight records show it had come from Las Vegas.
