Man shot on 215 Freeway in Murrieta, forcing hourslong closure of southbound lanes

A man riding a motorcycle was shot on the 215 Freeway in the Murrieta area, forcing the closure of all southbound lanes for several hours Thursday morning.

The incident happened around 12:40 a.m. between Clinton Keith and Scott roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, but details about what led up to the gunfire were not available.

Southbound lanes of the freeway remained closed through most of the morning as authorities investigated. They reopened around 8 a.m.
