SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket set to launch from SoCal coast

VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. (KABC) -- SpaceX's launch of its Falcon 9 rocket has been pushed back.

The launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base was set for Thursday evening, but liftoff is now scheduled for no earlier than 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Hawthorne-based company.

The mission will send 22 Starlink internet satellites to low-Earth orbit. The launch will be the 30th Falcon 9 flight so far this year.

After the satellites are deployed, the booster will land on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship in the Pacific Ocean.

It was just last week that a similar Falcon 9 launch left a long, trailing plume across the Southern California sky.
