Evacuation orders, warnings issued for fast-moving fire burning in Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- A fast-growing fire is burning in Santa Clarita on Saturday evening, prompting evacuation orders for several nearby neighborhoods.

The Tasha Fire was first reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. near Sierra Highway and Needham Ranch Parkway, according to Los Angeles County Fire.

By later Saturday evening, the fire had grown to approximately 10 acres.

Several neighborhoods in the area were placed under evacuation orders and warnings.

An evacuation order is in place for the following zones, meaning there is an immediate threat to life and residents are ordered to leave now:

• SCL-CALGROVE


• SCL-ETERNAL


• SCL-WILDWOOD

An evacuation warning is in place for the following zones, meaning residents should prepare to leave with a potential threat to life and/or property:

• LAC-E119-C


• LAC-E132-A


• SCL-DELPRADO


• SCL-MARKET


• SCL-NEWHALLPASS


• SCL-VALLEDELORO


• STV-E109-B

L.A. County Fire is working with the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Angeles National Forest. Crews are said to be making good progress.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though L.A. County Fire noted that it may have been sparked by a firework.
