APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- The names of deputies who were involved in last month's horseback chase beating in Apple Valley have been released.
The deputies were identified as Deputy Nicholas Downey, Victor Valley; Deputy Scott Hamilton, Victor Valley; Deputy David Moore, Victor Valley; Deputy Dominic Moody, Victor Valley; Detective William Doemner, Victor Valley; Sgt. James Evans, Victor Valley; Deputy Michael Phelps, Twin Peaks; Deputy Raymond Perez, Twin Peaks; Deputy Tyler McGee, Apple Valley; and Deputy Charles Foster, Hesperia.
Authorities say the investigations into the April 9 incident are continuing, and all involved personnel remain on paid administrative leave.
Deputies were attempting to serve a search warrant in connection with an identity theft investigation in an unincorporated area of Apple Valley when 30-year-old Francis Jared Pusok fled the location. The ensuing chase went through Apple Valley and Hesperia until Pusok allegedly abandoned the vehicle, then stole a horse.
When deputies finally caught up to him, they were caught on video repeatedly kicking and punching him -- even though the suspect was on the ground with his hands behind his back and legs spread.
