SAN DIMAS, Calif. (KABC) -- Family and friends held a candlelight vigil Friday night to remember the owner of a Quiznos restaurant in San Dimas who was shot and killed during a robbery earlier this month.
The vigil was held outside the restaurant at 1034 W. Arrow Highway where 63-year-old Pravin Patel worked. He was shot on June 2 after confronting an alleged robbery suspect outside his business.
Friends, family and members of the community gathered to remember Patel as a loving, selfless man.
"There's nothing we could do to bring him back today, but he would be happy if we could at least smile and continue his legacy because that's what he did in life, he brought happiness to everyone around him," said Patel's son, Nilesh.
On Wednesday, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies released a composite sketch of the suspect and announced a $20,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic man, age 25 to 30, about 6 feet tall and 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black cap, black shirt and dark short pants with a plaid pattern.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information was urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
