Suspect detained, 1 injured in 91 Freeway shooting

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- Road rage may be the motivation behind a shooting that injured a man on the eastbound 91 Freeway near the 5 Freeway in Fullerton on Monday afternoon.

The shooting initially occurred at about 4:30 p.m. in Fullerton. The victim, who was driving a white SUV, called 911, while he followed the suspect on the freeway. California Highway Patrol officers caught up to him in Anaheim Hills. A suspect was later detained at the Weir Canyon exit.

Several bullet holes could be seen in the victim's vehicle.

The victim was taken to a trauma center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the upper torso.

Fullerton Police temporarily shut down the eastbound 91 Freeway at Magnolia Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. for about an hour to gather evidence.

This is the second shooting on the 91 Freeway in less than a month. In July, David Cabrera allegedly fatally shot one man and wounded another man while driving on the 91 Freeway in Anaheim.
