FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A 32-year-old Arizona man was arrested in connection to the car-to-car shooting on the 91 Freeway, authorities announced Tuesday.

The California Highway Patrol received a call at about 4:30 p.m. Monday from a driver who said he had been shot while traveling on the 91 Freeway. Police say the shooting victim followed the suspect's vehicle while he was talking to 911 operators.

Officers detained the suspect, identified as Jerry Valentin of Scottsdale, in the area of the 91 Freeway and the Weir Canyon exit.

An investigation revealed that the shots were fired near the 91/5 freeway interchange in the city of Fullerton. Valentin was booked for attempted murder and is being held on $500,000 bail.

The shooting victim suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

A motive has not been determined yet, but investigators earlier said that road rage may have been a factor.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Malone of the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-6534.
