SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A couple and their 4-month-old daughter were injured after being struck by a dark-colored SUV while walking in South Pasadena Sunday. The family's dog was killed and the driver immediately fled the scene.

The hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of Orange Grove Avenue and Columbia Street at about 7:30 p.m. Police say the family was entering the crosswalk when they were hit by a newer model, dark-colored Toyota or Lexus-style SUV that resembles a big station wagon.

"We had taken about three steps and all of a sudden we saw the person turn in towards us, so right away I put my hands up and I was like 'Stop, stop stop,' and it was just a few seconds, and there was no time to jump or get out of the way," said Bryan Hollon.

His wife, 30-year-old Alexandra Hollon, and her 4-month-old daughter were transported to a local hospital, but are expected to recover. The baby suffered a fractured skull. Bryan Hollon was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

"We just rolled on the ground and I remember just wrapping my body around her," said Alexandra Hollon. "I can't wrap my brain around how it happened or why it happened, why they wouldn't stop."

The suspect's car has a left-turn signal that is white instead of amber-colored, and should have marks or scratches on the hood.

Anyone with further information was urged to contact the South Pasadena Police Department Detective Bureau at (626) 403-7280.
