College football today: Week 8 updates, highlights, biggest moments and more

College football is never short of drama, and just this week we got more action on the conference realignment side of things withFAU, Rice, Charlotte, North Texas, UTSA and UABset to join the American Athletic Conference. So if we got a bit of a shake-up early in the week, there was no telling what else would be shaken up on Saturday.

If you had the over in the Wake Forest-Army game, you're in luck. Each team hit the over (54) by themselves in Wake's 70-56 win. And that wasn't the only high-scoring tilt Saturday.

Check out all the results, reaction and revelry from throughout the land.

Plays of the day

When creativity sparks in the moment, this is the result. Caleb Williams is an innovator on our account.

And whenever you can get a dig in at Texas, you take it however you can.

"Talented. Brilliant. Incredible. Amazing. Showstopping. Spectacular." - Lady Gaga. And yes, beer pong is a game, so this 100% qualifies for this section.

It's all fun and games

Mike Leach is out on candy corn, and, yes, this is extremely important information we needed to know.

You heard the man! Get Kenny Pickett a cold one ASAP.

And honestly, he surely deserves one after Saturday's performance against Clemson.

This is what happens when you're a true die-hard fan -- you get married at a tailgate.

Just a friendly game of tic-tac-toe.

Evidently, it can be hard to score. Even in multiple OTs.

Illinois did end up beating No. 7 Penn State 20-18 after nine overtimes, in case you really wanted to know the outcome.

And sometimes it's work and parental duty. But hey, Nick Saban didn't seem to mind the slight interruption to his news conference.

Next Manning up

Ole Miss retired Eli Manning's No. 10 on Saturday, and in tribute it painted the end zones with "Manning" instead of "Rebels."

Surely that has nothing to do with the fact that the nation's most sought-after recruit is Manning's nephew, class of 2023 QB Arch Manning. Arch is on hand for Saturday's game as Lane Kiffin & Co. make a pitch for a third-generation Manning quarterback to go to Oxford.

For more on the life of Arch, check out this piece by Mark Schlabach. And Tom VanHaaren has you covered with the latest updates on his recruitment.

Scene in the stands

We're definitely hyped for the Space Game.

Juwan Howard came out to support Michigan.

Did Arkansas State win? No. So sadly, these fans will definitely need to show up like this again next weekend.

Maybe someone was out just a little past their bedtime.

Nothing to see here ... quite literally.

Indiana fans' hopes were dashed early by Ohio State.

GameDay antics

Bill Walton was the guest picker this Saturday, and you know with him there's always a guaranteed golden gif or meme like this one.

How about Bill Walton shows up every week?

And Lee Corso's pick is ...

For the best signs, check this out.

Battle of the Bones!

With UAB moving to the AAC soon, one of the greatest rivalry trophies to exist is making a comeback for any future UAB-Memphis games on the horizon.

Mascot check-in

The Duck is letting it be known that there's Oregon representation everywhere.

Rice, Temple and FAU, all backed by the mighty owls, will soon all be in the AAC, and sure, three might be a crowd, but it looks like a fun party anyway.

The latest in CFB fashion

How long do you think it took this man to plan this outfit?

Walking on eggshells it seems, huh, Oregon?

So long as this thing stays upright, sure, we'll ride with Oklahoma.

Yes, Coastal Carolina lost, but the Chants went out in style, at least.

For more on the best uniforms, check this out.

More must-see

Agree or disagree? The worst call in CFB history?

More OT absurdness.

Just call Pitt's SirVocea Dennis for all your defensive needs.

Brennan Presley has some serious hops.

It's gotta be the shoes, right?

Army-Wake Forest is unbelievable, and this is just one of the many wild plays that has happened.

This certainly didn't work out the way they wanted.

However high you think you can jump, well, Jahan Dotson can jump higher.

This is just pure speed.

App State took down No. 14 Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, and the fans couldn't wait to celebrate.
