Long Beach church invites community to free Grandparents Day event
Pastor E, as he's affectionately known, said grandparents can play a much bigger role in our families and communities, if we'll let them.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Grandparents can do much for children, not just as stewards of familial history, but love and encouragement.

Unfortunately, many older adults in this role experience isolation and don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

In honor of Grandparents Day on Sept. 13, The N.O.W Church is opening its doors to families across Southern California for an afternoon of celebration and fun.

From 4-6:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy live music, games, mental health and wellness resources, and programming focused on our amazing grandparents.

"Once you get that 'grandparent' title, it's like, retired," Pastor E. Hamilton said.

"As a grandparent, I encourage other people to be more involved in the kids' lives, take a load off the kids, you know, you're now at a point where you can assist."

Pastor E said this year’s celebration is all about the smiles.

“We’re putting something together pretty unique this year,” he said.

“We invite all to come out. This is all exclusive. It’s nothing religional…. it is just time to spend together, and celebrate one another at this joyous occasion.”

No registration is necessary to attend. P2P Community Development, Inc., and B'Shey Productions are sponsors of the event.

For more information, call Pastor E at (562) 413-3710.

N.O.W. Faith Church is at 1112 E. Artesia Blvd, in Long Beach.
