In a major shakeup ahead of November, the L.A. City Council pulled a measure that would have asked voters to allow noncitizens to vote in city elections.
The state is set to vote Nov. 4 on a redistricting proposition that would dramatically redraw California's congressional lines to add as many as five additional Democratic seats to its U.S. House delegation.
As campaigning for Gov. Gavin Newsom's Proposition 50 ramps up, legal challenges are already emerging against his push for a voter-approved redraw of California's congressional districts.
The proposal would require the state to verify proof of citizenship when a person registers to vote, and voters would have to provide identifications at the polls.
After winning widespread support in the November election, Prop. 36, which increases penalties for certain theft and drug crimes, is now in effect.
Measure A will raise the sales tax in Los Angeles County to fund programs to tackle homelessness.
