Here's what you need to know about voting in the special election.
Same-day voter registration is open now at county election offices and vote centers up to and including Election Day.
You will be able to vote in the special election and register to vote at the same time. You will be given a provisional ballot.
When your voter registration is approved, your provisional ballot will be counted.
Vote centers are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. leading up to Election Day.
At vote centers, you can drop off you mail-in ballot, do same-day voter registration and vote in the special election.
Find a vote center near you on the CA Early Voting website here.
The last day to vote is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
That means mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than Nov. 4.
Vote centers will be open a little longer on Election Day -- 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In-person voting ends at 8 p.m. on that day. If you are in line by 8 p.m. but you haven't voted yet, stay in line. You will be able to vote since you got to the vote center before the deadline.

You can vote in person at any vote center in the county you live in.

When you get your mail-in ballot, it will have your ballot and an envelope with prepaid postage inside.
Fill out your ballot, checking the front and back of your ballot to make sure you didn't miss anything. For the California Prop 50 special election, there is only one sheet and one question for the ballot.
When done filling out your ballot, fold it and put it in the provided return envelope. Seal the return envelope.
On the envelope, date and sign it. Make sure the signature matches the one on your driver's license/ID or one provided when registering to vote. Election officials will compare the signature on your envelope to the signature on file.
There are three ways to return your mail-in ballot.
1) You can put your signed and dated return envelope in the mail.
2) You can put your mail-in ballot in a ballot dropbox in your county. Find a dropbox location near you here.
3) You can drop off your ballot at a vote center. Find a vote center near you here.
You can track you mail-in ballot on the Where's My Ballot website here.
