Sept. 13 marks 22 years since rapper Tupac Shakur was killed

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Thursday marked the 22nd anniversary of the death of rap legend Tupac Shakur.

After all these years, the mystery remains over the night he died, including the widely popular theory that he's still alive.

Shakur died in 1996, when he was riding in a car near the Las Vegas Strip and a suspect opened fire from another vehicle.

The case remains open.
