LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Health officials say the patient at UC Davis Medical Center has tested negative for Ebola.

"At this time, there have been no confirmed cases of Ebola in California," the California Department of Public Health said in a statement.

The patient had recently traveled to West Africa. He was at the Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento but was transferred to the UC Davis Medical Center.

The test, done by the Sacramento County Public Health Laboratory, came back negative on Thursday night.
