REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Dramatic video shows the terrifying moment two men and a dog were rescued after their sailboat was swept into a wall of rocks Saturday in Redondo Beach.
The sailboat can be seen repeatedly slamming into the break wall as gusting winds create rolling waves.
Wayne Craig said he was walking along the pier when he saw the sailors in distress and called 911.
"I saw the boat trying to come into the harbor and then go right into the rocks. It looked like a combination of issues," Craig told ABC News. "I saw the diver just dive into the water."
Redondo Beach firefighter Grant Currie jumped into the water, swam to the boat and rescued the two men and their dog after a Harbor Patrol boat wasn't able to get close enough to throw the sailors a line.
"We couldn't get close enough so we really only had bad options," Currie told ABC News. "There was a lull in the water for a moment and I just jumped in and I swam up to the boat and told them they had to get in the water."
Aside from a few bumps and scratches, no injuries were reported.
