Investigators say he opened fire on two officers after running away from a DUI checkpoint near Prairie and El Segundo in Hawthorne.

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KABC) -- There's now a $10,000 reward in the search for man accused of trying to kill a pair of Redondo Beach police officers

The reward is for any information that will lead to an arrest and conviction of 35-year-old Lester Castro. Police were conducting DUI stops when they pulled over Castro on his motorcycle.

They say he ran and later pulled out a handgun to fire at officers. They weren't hurt, but Castro got away.

Investigators say Castro has an extensive criminal record including attempted murder, assault and domestic violence.
