MONROVIA, Calif. (KABC) -- The city of Monrovia provides a free 'Block Party Trailer' to help build community in their neighborhoods.
Monrovia Area Partnership, through the city of Monrovia, provides logistical support for the community to have block parties and get to know their neighbors.
The city offers a Block Party Trailer that's filled with tables, chairs and games.
"They provide the tables, chairs, games and support to help us put this on. This is the first year I've used them, and it's been so much easier to get the tables out instead of dragging the tables from our basement," Arlene, a Monrovia resident, said.
It's available for any city of Monrovia residents to reserve free of charge.
"It's free of charge to any Monrovia city resident. They're able to rent it and be able to host their block party to get to know their neighbors a little better," a representative with the Monrovia Area Partnership said.
Neighbors on Highland Place recently hosted their third annual block party.
"The big purpose is getting to know your neighbors and sharing resources with one another," a representative with the city of Monrovia said.
"It's really fun to get to know our neighbors. I think we all look out for one another, like when people are out of town, we collect each other's mail. During the fires especially, it was super helpful," a Monrovia resident said.
Everyone puts their names on the name tags and their number of their street address to make it easier to get familiarized with who lives on your block.
"I'm all about trying to meet as many of the neighbors as possible, and this was a perfect event for that," another resident said.
The city doesn't provide the food or the drinks, but they make it easier for a party like this to happen.
"It's a true community; I don't know anywhere else that does a block party like this," a Monrovia resident said.
