Mid-week cooldown moves in, brings June Gloom conditions to SoCal

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California can expect sunshine and slightly cooler temperatures on Wednesday. After several hot and sunny days, a mid-week cooldown is moving in, bringing the return of thicker cloud cover and June Gloom conditions.

A Beach Hazard Statement is in effect until Friday at 11 p.m. for areas south of Orange County to San Diego due to unsafe beach conditions. Three to 6-foot waves and rip currents are expected.

Los Angeles and Orange counties on Wednesday will see cloudy skies in the morning followed by afternoon sunshine, with a high of 77 degrees and a low of 61. With June Gloom conditions moving in in on Wednesday, the slight drop in temperatures are expected to last to the end of the week.

The valleys and Inland Empire on Wednesday can expect sunny skies with a high of 85 degrees and a low of 58. Temperatures will continue to drop over the next few days as cloud cover moves in.

Beaches will see morning clouds followed by afternoon sunshine on Wednesday, with a high of 71 degrees and a low of 64. Temperatures are expected to drop to the upper-60s beginning Thursday.

Mountain communities can expect sunshine on Wednesday, with a high of 79 degrees and a low of 44. Temperatures will continue to drop slightly through the weekend.

The deserts on Wednesday will see sunny and hot conditions with a high of 95 degrees and a low of 67. Palm Springs is expected to reach a high of 107 degrees.
