Westchester home invasion suspects had scanners to listen to police

WESTCHESTER, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are looking for two armed men who broke into a Westchester home and took off with property. The incident is the latest in a string of home invasions across Los Angeles.

Two armed men, both wearing masks, broke into the home on the 8300 block of Flight Avenue through a rear sliding door at around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles police said.

A woman inside the residence locked herself inside a room, while her father and boyfriend confronted the armed men.

The thieves got away with phones, a purse and other personal items. An area resident told Eyewitness News that her son believes he saw the suspects in their car, driving up and down the street for the past week.

This marks the fifth home invasion in one week.

Last Wednesday, two home invasions occurred just hours apart - one in Los Feliz and another in West Hills. The next day, a home was broken into in Mid-Wilshire. The following Monday, a home in Mid-City was struck.

It's unclear whether the crimes are connected, although the crimes have some similar details. In the most recent incident in Westchester, the suspects allegedly had scanners with them to listen to police radio calls.
