LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Strong winds continued to batter the Southland on Friday after toppling massive trees overnight in neighborhoods including East Hollywood, South Los Angeles and Walnut.
Two towering palm trees were uprooted by winds in the South L.A. neighborhood of Chesterfield Square, where one of them downed several power lines and caused an electrical outage.
Utility crews worked through the morning to restore power to customers.
In East Hollywood, a giant tree came down on a parked vehicle at 3 a.m. in the 500 block of Oxford Avenue, causing significant damage.
Residents of nearby Larchmont were without power early Friday morning to strong wind gusts that brought down power lines in the backyard of a home on Lilian Way.
The communities of Wilmington, West Adams, Harvard park and Manchester Square each had hundreds of customers in the dark, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
By 6:30 a.m., the agency said 1,800 customers were still affected by outages.
About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, a eucalyptus tree on a hillside in Walnut fell onto an adjacent house in the 20100 block of San Vicente Circle.
The roof of the garage collapsed in the incident, which resulted in the home being red-tagged.
No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
