Woman shoots Hollywood Hills home invader, LAPD says
A woman shot a man who was reportedly trying to break into her home in the Hollywood Hills on Sunday, police said.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman shot a man who was reportedly trying to break into her home in the Hollywood Hills on Sunday, police said.

The incident was reported around 9:30 p.m. on Hollyridge Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police say a man called 911 to report his wife had shot someone trying to enter their residence. The man who was shot was pushing into the door when the resident shot him, the department added.

The man was apparently yelling he was hurt and to let him inside, police said.

LAPD says the woman armed herself with a weapon because she feared for her life. She told police she saw the man reach into his pocket and simulate as if he had a firearm.

It's unknown if the man was armed.

LAPD officers who responded found a man at the scene, conscious and breathing, who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The wounded suspect, only identified as being in his 30s, was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

Video from the scene shows officers detaining a woman, presumably the homeowner, during their investigation into the shooting.

No arrests have been made.
