Calif. lawmakers no longer face pay cut

June 11, 2008 10:12:00 AM PDT
Lawmakers in Sacramento are no longer facing a pay cut.A commission that sets lawmakers salaries was considering cutting their pay by up to ten percent, but on Tuesday, the commission voted to freeze them instead.

Commissioners say they opposed the pay cut because it could have been seen as poor job performance, instead of an attempt to meet the governor's ten percent across-the-board spending cuts.

The pay freeze affects the fiscal year starting July 1.
