LAX reunites property with owners

LOS ANGELES They put nearly 300 items on display Saturday, including electronics, purses and jewelry.

Police said they recently caught two baggage handlers in the act of stealing from suitcases during a surveillance operation.

Investigators said they discovered the items at the suspects' homes.

"We understand that some of the items here, although they may not be very expensive, we recognize that they have some sentimental value, emotional value to the owners and we want to make sure that the items are recovered and returned to their rightful owners," said LAPD officer Peter Whittingham.

LAX passengers who believe they've had items stolen can also take a look at the display.
