$3M settlement in ER waiting room death

LOS ANGELES In May 2007, Rodriguez died of a perforated bowel at the /*King-Harbor Medical Center*/ emergency room.

Hospital security video shows that no one attended to the 43-year-old woman even though she had writhed in pain on the floor of the public hospital for 45 minutes.

Her family had sued for $45 million, $1 million for every minute she was neglected by hospital staff.

An attorney representing Rodriguez's three grown children says each one will receive $1 million minus legal fees.

The case sparked widespread outrage and played a role in the closure of the troubled hospital.
