CSU students face likely fee increase

LONG BEACH, Calif. The CSU Board of Trustees will vote Wednesday on a proposed 10 percent fee hike.

The board debated the increase Tuesday.

"Our per-student funding from the state has fallen by 25 percent in past decade if you adjust for inflation, and if you look at the current budget situation, things are going from bad to worse," said CSU Assistant Vice-Chancellor of Budget Robert Turnage.

If the board approves the increase, annual fees for full-time undergraduate students would go up to about $3,300 per year, an increase of approximately $300.

This follows a similar moved by the University of California system, which announced last week it was raising tuition by more than 9 percent.
