King Kong is coming back to Universal

Universal City, CA Tuesday, Universal Studios officials announced the great ape will return in the summer of 2010.

After the fire last June officials considered replacing King Kong with a new attraction, but decided Kong has been a fixture of the studios tour and was too popular to drop.

Tourists will wear special 3-D glasses as they ride trams into a darkened sound stage resembling Skull Island where they will witness a new King Kong battle a giant dinosaur.

The New York street and other parts of the backlot are being rebuild. They are expected to re-open this summer. The 2008 fire was sparked by roofers using a blowtorch.
