Cool Kid gives special kids leg up on life

LOS ANGELES "We help them form a relationship with the horse," said Danielle. "Not only that they learn to ride, it helps with their coordination and motor skills and it's wonderful."

Danielle makes each student unique. Each has with individual challenges, goals and victories.

"A lot of them are disabled so just to watch them reach that level where they're so excited to come every week and they remember you and know who you are and they really appreciate it."

She especially looks out for those riders who might have a tougher time.

"It's almost more worth it at the end of the day rather than working with a kid who knows what he's doing," said Danielle. "You're just there to have fun and talk to him but it's more rewarding to work with a kid who might have more trouble at first."

No matter how many kids she works with, Danielle feels connected.

"Whenever you do something new, it's kind of nerve wracking," said Danielle. "You kind of feel that confidence build up in yourself and to see it with a kid you've been working with and know you're part of it, it's amazing."

Helping special kids get a leg up on life, she is our Cool Kid, Danielle Meidan.
