19-yr-old attempted rape suspect arrested

LOS ANGELES Detectives believe there could be other victims and are asking for help to locate them.

The sexual assault suspect is identified as John Christopher Munoz, 19, of Hollywood.

Police say early Friday afternoon, Munoz scaled a wall, climbed onto a garage roof and forced his way through a balcony window of a home in the 100 block of South Van Ness Avenue.

Detectives say he attempted to rape a 56-year-old woman working in the home. She was able to fight off the attacker and he escaped.

Despite an intensive manhunt, which included a canine search, police were not able to find the suspect.

The next day, Olympic-area patrol officers detained Munoz, based on the physical description of the suspect.

Munoz is being held at Parker Center Jail on $375,000 bail.
