UCLA student charged with kidnapping, assault

LOS ANGELES Thaddeus Ryan Stanforth, 25, is charged with one felony count each of kidnapping, assault to commit a felony, and sexual battery by restraint.

Stanforth is a Fullerton resident who lives on the UCLA campus.

Investigators say he attacked a female student about 3 a.m. as she returned from a party.

He allegedly forced her into a wooded area, pushed her to the ground, straddled her, and pulled up her dress.

Investigators say he abruptly stopped and fled the area.

The suspect was arrested Friday, April 2, in his dorm room.

He is being held on $225,000 bail.

If convicted, he faces more than nine years in state prison.
