Oil leaks found in grounded Qantas A380s

LOS ANGELES Two planes grounded at Los Angeles International Airport were found to have leaks in the engine's turbine area.

Qantas plans to replace the faulty engines. The carrier grounded the double-decker A380s, the world's largest passenger airliner, after an engine burst minutes into a flight from Singapore to Sydney last week. That plane made a safe emergency landing in Singapore.

Rolls Royce, the maker of the aircraft engine, has said it has made progress in finding the cause of the failings. It said its engines are being inspected in cooperation with Airbus.
