12-year-old swept up in OC creek, rescued

ORANGE, Calif. The girl and a friend were walking their dogs along the creek nearsouth Glassell Street about noon when the 12-year-old was swept up in the current after she dipped her feet in the water.

The girl's friend yelled for help and three nearby men ran over and puller her to safety. Authorities arrived on scene and paramedics took the girl to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Officials said this serves as a reminder to the public about the dangers of stepping into any body of water after recent heavy rainfall and flooding.
