"It just made me want to go help others because I knew I could with that experience, with my life knowledge , I knew I could apply that into helping others," said Horin.
Teen Line is there for all young people to call in times of stress. It may seem simple, but what Horin does is very important.
"Just letting them know that you're there for them, which is something not a lot of people get, I think that's the most powerful thing you can do for someone," she said.
Horin is a great listener when her peers call in. But besides just being there, she's also able to give them important information and a place to turn, such as referring them to the Suicide Prevention Helpline or the National Eating Disorder Association.
Through her personal experience, Horin can identify with some of the kids who call. She makes sure that each caller understands how she can help.
"There's still someone there, someone who wants to see you succeed, someone who wants to help you, someone who wants you to live," said Horin.
