Authorities said the 64-year-old man was playing with his granddaughter in the front yard of a home on the 1800 block of West 47th Street when two armed men forced him into their car at about 8:15 p.m.
The family said they were getting phone calls demanding ransom money.
He was dropped off in Lynwood at a McDonald's parking lot several hours later. Police say the victim was eventually picked up by police and taken to LAPD headquarters, where he was treated for an ankle injury.
The suspects are still at-large. No suspect or vehicle description was immediately available.
