Counterfeit karaoke machines seized at Port of Los Angeles

PORT OF LOS ANGELES

LA/Long Beach seaport officers and agents from /*U.S. Customs and Border Protection*/ (CBP) discovered 1,932 karaoke machines with counterfeit brand markings on them.

The machines were seized from a sea container from China.

The estimated manufacturer's suggested retail price of the seized machines was valued at $964,068. CBP officials gave the domestic value as $852,368.

According to the CBP, the L.A. port had a record-breaking year in 2010 with 863 trade seizures with a domestic value exceeding $34 million, marking a 42 percent increase in seizures from 2009.
