3 wounded in South LA officer-involved shooting

SOUTH LOS ANGELES

The shooting happened about 2:40 p.m. in a parking lot behind an apartment complex on Figueroa Street near 120th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Three people were hospitalized, two of whom were shot. The third person was not shot but has unknown injuries.

LAPD officers heard gunshots in the area. As they responded they saw one man taking aim at another. The officers opened fire.

It was not clear if the two people shot were suspects or victims, or whether they were hit by police bullets.

Injuries were not life-threatening for either person.

The LAPD said the shooting was not believed to be gang-related.

No officers were injured in the incident.
