A Ventura man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon early Wednesday morning.

According to Ventura police, Ventura resident Kristin Rogers, 24, arrived at 154 S. Hemlock St. to retrieve property.

A female at the location got in an argument with Rogers in the residence. Police say the argument escalated into a fight.

Edward Estrella, 26, armed himself with an aluminum baseball bat, according to police, and struck Rogers with the bat repeatedly on her torso and head.

Rogers was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening laceration to the top of her head and suffered a broken wrist.

Police responded and located Estrella inside the residence, where he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

Estrella was booked at Ventura County Jail.
