Intelligent Communities made the announcement on Tuesday. Riverside is one of only two U.S. cities on the list.
The city has been identified as global leaders in innovation and municipal technologies. They were also recognized for its commitment to broadband, citywide innovation and its knowledge-economy.
"Being named a Top 7 Intelligent Community two years running is an incredible honor recognizing that Riverside excels as a world leader in innovation and municipal technologies," said Mayor Ron Loveridge, who is also chair of SmartRiverside, a non-profit dedicated to creating a tech-friendly environment.
The top seven was narrowed down from a list of 21 cities:
- Riverside, California
- Austin, Texas
- Oulu, Finland
- Quebec City, Canada
- Stratford, Canada
- Taichung City, Taiwan
- Saint John, Canada
